2/24/2023 0 Comments The big sleep transcriptLet's give a round of applause to our great Commissioner of Labor, Roberta Reardon. When it came down to getting billions of dollars out to people who had lost their jobs through no fault of their own, she worked 30 hours a day to make sure that she took care of New Yorkers. I thought I knew Roberta Reardon - nice lady, we did a lot of events together, a lot of ribbon cuttings. You would not know the true character of an individual until you see them under enormous stress and pressure. It’s when the going gets tough, the tough get going and there's nobody tougher than the Building Trades of the State of New York, the City of New York and Gary LaBarbera. I think about that in the context of the video and Gary LaBarbera, and I think of one of my father's favorite phrases. It truly was two years ago today when they first declared what we were experiencing a global pandemic. He's been a friend and an ally for a long time, but you know, you think about what he accomplished. Nothing like having Gary LaBarbera on your side, because that really does mean something. If I felt at all tired from getting almost no sleep, I'm wide awake now. PHOTOS of the event will be available on the Governor's Flickr page.Ī rush transcript of the Governor's remarks are available below: VIDEO of the event is available on YouTube here and in TV quality (h.264, mp4) format here. The Governor also committed to appoint a representative of organized labor to the statewide Climate Action Council, tasked with implementing the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act. The Governor announced that the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York will be developing a Project Labor Agreement in partnership with the Long Island construction labor unions that will be used on all large-scale projects DASNY undertakes on Long Island. Earlier today, Governor Kathy Hochul attended the New York City Building Trades Winter Conference and delivered remarks.
